Why the desk costs what it costs
The Saloon Desk replaces both a desk and an office chair. It is 70 lb of rigid steel, made in Poland by a manufacturer of gym equipment — not a flat-pack laptop tray. A well-regarded ergonomic office chair on its own is $1,000 or more, and a sit-stand desk is several hundred on top of that. At $999 the Saloon Desk costs less than the two pieces of furniture it removes from your room. At $599 it is not really a comparison.
What you're reserving
It sits over your sofa or armchair at the right height, so you sit back with your feet up instead of hunching forward over a desk.
- Four VESA sockets/posts = 2 screens or 2 laptop mounts. Max screen size 40-inch.
- 70 lb of rigid steel — made in Poland by a manufacturer of gym equipment.
- 2 soft TPE elbow pads, 4 cup holders.
- Folds away in sixty seconds when you're done.
- 1 mm steel surface layer under the high-grade, self-adhesive, edge-to-edge mouse mats. Washable and replaceable.
- Works with an ordinary office chair too — it's just better with a couch.
The small print, honestly
- Your $2 is credited toward your pledge. You'll back at $597 instead of $599 on our private Early Bird tier.
- This is not a pledge and not a pre-order. You still back the project on Kickstarter when it launches on 28 October 2026.
- Your reservation is held against your email address and cannot be transferred. One per person.
- The Early Bird tier is limited to 100.
- If the Kickstarter campaign does not go ahead, we refund your $2 in full.
